We had our hearts broken on Friday when we learned that our baby son, Joseph died in utero. Needless to say, we have had an extremely emotional time coming to terms with it. I didn't realize how full of hope I was for the future until the plans that felt so certain about were suddenly dashed to pieces. We went to the hospital Friday evening so that Angelyn could be induced to deliver. All night, she was attended to by nurses and pumped full of drugs with the end result of little Joe's arrival at exactly noon on Saturday. We got to spend a few precious hours with our little guy. Both Ang and I got to hold him, cry, and say goodbye to this perfect little boy who we will not get to know in this life.

We have both found strength that we didn't know we had in ourselves and in one another. -And in the moments when our strength was expended, we have been lifted up by our awesome family. Thank you, everyone for your support and compassion! Each of you has rallied around us and brought us peace in a moment when we have most needed it.

Joseph, we are so sad that we won't get to have you in our lives right now. We will miss the stunts you would have pulled, the messes you'd have made, and the sweet things you would have done or said. -But we are so grateful for the brief moment we had together, for a reminder of the power and strength of family and friends, and most of all for the peace we feel in knowing you are in God's arms now. We love you!

Well it has been about 4 months since I last posted anything, so I figured I'm due. In order to deter you from the fact that the posts have been lacking in quantity, I'll dazzle you with quality. Aaaaaaaand we're back

Oh my, it has been a long time. I am sure that I lost all of my regular readers. Guess I need to start campaigning or something. I do have a legitimate reason for my hiatus: I forgot to bring in the Sunday paper a couple of weeks ago. When I found it on Monday, I thought Monday was Sunday, and I have been running behind ever since.

Luckily, there has been extensive media coverage of what we have been up to. We're kinda like Brangelina that way. I don't ask for it, but that's the paparazzi for you. Here are some of the news clippings...

Those are the biggies. For now, I'll be trying my best to avoid anymore space/time conundrums that might impede me from timely entry of future postings. 

New York... London... Tokyo... Paris... MOAB!!

Each year, we make our pilgrimage to the wonderful land of Moab (twice if we're lucky). I credit dad for getting me hooked on the place. He loved it, and I can't blame him. 

We were able to go down this last weekend with our good friends, Dustin and Cindy, along with their boys. It got to be a little trying, since we were dealing with 4 kids, but the activities sufficiently wore them out (whew!) 

Luckily, with the added help, Ang and I were able to take in a bike ride on Saturday before we took everyone into Arches for some hiking.

For The Ladies

I just caught up with a band that I really admired as a child: Rocka Fire Explosion. I have been so out of touch that I didn't even know they were still together. So imagine how glad I was to find a video of some of their new material. Enjoy!

Something to be Grateful for

We had a really sobering experience on Friday. We almost lost our little Jellybean. She and Ang were visiting Grandma and when the time came to leave, she went missing. The search began and ended quickly when Grandma found her face-down in the fish pond. I tremble as I type this because I cannot imagine losing my little girl. It would kill me.

Grandma saved the day, catching her in the nick of time. JB was struggling to get her footing in the water and had only inhaled a little bit. A split second later would have been too late. There were adults in the yard with her the entire time... nobody heard a splash... it happened just that fast. She had the chills and a fever all that night. I know because I didn't sleep well. If not for the weight limitations, I would have curled up with her in her crib just to be there with her.

I am grateful every day for my kids, and even more so now, though I didn't think it was possible. Give your kids an extra-long hug tonight.
